POSITION SUMMARY: Installation and maintenance of natural gas pipeline.

Essential Functions: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essentials functions.   

  1. Responsible for digging trenches, installing sewer, water, and natural gas pipelines; and backfilling excavations with asphalt on road.
  2. Responsible for entering and exiting excavations varying in depth from 2’to 5.’
  3. Shovel dirt, rake dirt or hot asphalt, jackhammer roadways or sidewalks, jackhammer concrete, rock, etc.
  4. Carry materials or equipment to and from the truck to a jobsite.
  5. Use of a chop saw to cut concrete, use of a hammer drill to core through concrete foundations, entering basements or crawlspaces to perform necessary pipefitting or meter service work.
  6. Use of a pneumatic rammer for excavation compaction.
  7. Perform basic pipe fitting with pipe sizes from ½” to 2”.
  8. Tapping and stopping off water or gas service tees from the main line, in addition to numerous push / pull activities associated to underground construction work.
  9. Joining plastic pipe with fusion equipment.
  10.   Joining steel pipe utilizing cutting and threading equipment, pipe wrenches, etc.
  11.   Removing and installing cathodic protection coatings/wrap on underground pipelines.
  12.   Additional safety sensitive duties as required.
Competencies
  1. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  2. Ability to operate a variety of simple and complex tools.
  3. Ability to safely operate commercial motor vehicles and non-commercial motor vehicle.
  4. Must have physical strength, hand-eye coordination, and endurance.
  5. Excellent customer service skills
  6. Heavy construction equipment experiences highly desirable
  7. Must obtain commercial driver’s license within 6 months of employment.

Local day travel is required for this position.
