POSITION SUMMARY – The Director will impact the overall company growth strategies, advance engineering principles, theories and concepts, have a distinguished record of creativity and innovation. Will be recognized as an authority in the field of civil engineering. Provides leadership and mentoring in managing multiple projects, ensuring all deliverables are met from concept to successful completion.

  • Lead and manage with ultimate accountability for a wide range of projects within the gas distribution and transmission industries.  Ensure compliance with industry and customer regulations.
  • Lead and manage a diverse team of engineers, designers and drafters.  Responsible to oversee and mentor staff as well as a variety of stakeholders. Develop and lead the team with strong conflict management, decision making, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Develop and enhance client relationships and earns repeat business.  Directly interface with clients, verify client needs are met, and adjust staffing requirements.
  • Project Management – ability to manage from concept to proposal to finished product, on time and on budget.  Effective understanding of project schedules and impact, including quality controls.  Understanding of phases, activities, and deliverables for assigned projects.  Lead, direct, evaluate, and report on staff utilization, work-load management, and project status.
  • Business Development – ability to extend and defend existing work and to develop new clientele.
  • Training / Communication - ability to effectively lead the respective Engineering team. Able to give effective presentations to critical/high level customers and effectively represent work group on review panels and cross-organizational teams. Can write convincing proposals and reports with all necessary backup material for external consumption.

Work Environment- This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and move objects up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work-This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Travel - Overnight travel as well as local day travel maybe required for this position

Required Education and Experience –

  • Four year degree
  • Fifteen (15) years of diversified engineering experience in Civil Engineering, gas and transmission
  • Current PE License required

Preferred Education and Experience In depth understanding of environmental regulations
